Crab Cakes
Make the most of your leftover Alaskan King Crab with these easy low-carb crab cakes. We have King Crab legs for Christmas dinner every year… and making these crab cakes after is one of my favorite things to do! We usually have them for lunch a day or two after Christmas. It’s a delicious tradition!
This gluten free / Keto crab cake recipe light on carbs but big on flavor—perfect for lunch, dinner, or as a fancy appetizer.
Recipe:
3 Cups cooked crab meat
1 large egg
1/4 cup almond flour
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons oil/butter
Recipe:
• In a large mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, egg, almond flour, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Old Bay seasoning, lemon juice, parsley, and Parmesan cheese.
• Mix gently until everything is well incorporated, being careful not to break up the crab meat too much. The mixture should be moist but hold its shape when formed into patties. If it’s too wet, add a bit more almond flour.
• Form the mixture into 6–8 patties, about 3 inches wide and 1 inch thick. Place the patties on a plate or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
• Refrigerate the crab cakes for at least 30 minutes to help them firm up (this step prevents them from falling apart while cooking).
• Heat 2 tablespoons of avocado oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
• Add the crab cakes to the skillet in a single layer, cooking in batches if necessary. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crisp). Careful flipping them!
• Serve the crab cakes warm with a side of your favorite dipping sauce, like garlic aioli, spicy mayo, or a simple squeeze of lemon.
Baking Instructions:
• Baking Option: You can also bake the crab cakes at 400°F (200°C) on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
