Jarcuterie
Jarcuterie is the hottest thing since Charcuterie boards became popular! This is a much simpler (and more budget friendly!) option that you’re going to love! It’s perfect for everything from a fancy brunch or shower, to a backyard BBQ or a holiday party!
Check out our simple ideas below and give Jarcuterie a try for your next party!
What is “Jarcuterie”?
Basically it’s simple “charcuterie” ingredients, served on a toothpick in mason jars!
There are a few great benefits to serving appetizers like this rather than a typical charcuterie board:
1) The ingredients are cheaper! Our three favorites are caprese salad, pickle roll up skewers and fruit salad. Simple ingredients from any grocery store… but it still looks amazing!
2) Everyone’s hands aren’t all over the food. Your guests just grab a toothpick out of the mason jar and they’re on their way! No touching other people’s food.
3) Add new jars as you need them. Having a big party or a gathering where people will come and go? You can just start with some of your jarcuterie jars out. Then take more out of the fridge as you need them. This way the food is less likely to spoil.
4) Cleanup is so EASY! With a typical charcuterie board, as your party winds down you end up with a (literal) hot mess of food on your counter or boards that needs to get cleaned up. With Jarcuterie, throw the empty jars in the dishwasher. Twist the lids back on the leftovers and pop them in the fridge. Perfect to eat as leftovers the next day!
Here are a few examples of some of our favorite and most well loved options. Keep in mind you can include Keto and non-Keto ingredients (like oranges). People can choose the ones that work for them! Our kids love the fruit salad ones for breakfast when they have sleepovers.
The Keto Dad Tips and Tricks:
These can easily be made keto, low carb, or with standard ingredients. Ex: fruit skewers we’ll eat berries. We’ll add in some oranges for the kids.
Buy some cute toothpicks for parties!
You don’t have to use mason jars. The skewers can go on a normal charcuterie board or even in bowls.
Most skewers can be made in advance. Perfect if you’re busy cooking for a party.
Only get out some of the mason jars - you can add fresh skewers as they get eaten.
Anything that can be eaten fresh off a toothpick works great! Olives, cheese, meat!
